A CAREGIVER
Friendly Neighbour provides a variety of non-medical services that allow seniors to remain in their home and meet the challenges of aging with dignity, care and compassion.
When you become a caregiver, no day will ever be exactly the same as the last. No matter what type of caregiving you provide, you will always have a wide variety of duties and experiences. Wherever the senior lives, whether in their own private home, or a long term care home, you will find your Friendly Neighbour ready to lend a helping, caring, compassionate hand.
We are looking for people with:

Care Aid Certification
-
Those who have a minimum of having worked in a care position of some type (seniors, children or other people with needs. This could include mothers whose children are in school or emply nesters, former teachers, former counsellors, special needs aides etc)
Those with their Care Aid certification will be Care Companions Level 2
Those without their certification will be Care Companions Level 1.
Salary is commensurate with experience and certification levels.
We have a variety of shifts available with competitive pay with benefits after the probationary period ends.

3 month probationary period will apply for each applicant, regardless of their experience or certification.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

Companionship and conversation
-
Encouragement & engagement in their current hobbies and program planning to introduce new ideas and hobbies, to engage and foster better mental health.

Games, singing, music, painting and other crafts.

Light housekeeping tasks and light meal preparation
-
Medication and appointment reminders
-
Assistance with grooming and bathing
-
Assistance with toileting
-
Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care
-
Respite Care
Requirements to be a
Companion & Caregiver:
-
Must be legally able to work in Canada (mandatory)
-
Possess your own vehicle with valid auto insurance (Mandatory)
(Mileage to be paid out at the end of each month) -
Possess a valid driver’s license. (Mandatory)

Driver’s abstract is required from ICBC.
-
Complete a criminal background check, a vulnerable sector check (mandatory) this must be done as part of the application process.

Ability to treat and care for seniors and their property with dignity and respect
-
Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner
-
3 professional and personal references
-
Must provide proof of full COVID vaccinations (having received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (e.g., two doses of a two-dose vaccine series, or one dose of a single-dose vaccine series)

Possess or quickly obtain upon hiring, a current First Aid/CPR certification (mandatory)
